The combining form contra- has two meanings.
Meaning 1: against, in opposition
- These two sources are giving opposite information; they contradict each other.
Meaning 2: (in music) pitched an octave below
- Whaley Royce, a Canadian instrument manufacturer, developed the first contrabass bugle.
