Aujourd’hui, ce verbe se construit presque toujours avec la préposition à : attenter à la vie de qqn, attenter à ses jours, attenter à l’honneur de qqn. Faits qui attentent à la pudeur. Les constructions avec les prépositions contre et sur sont vieillies, sauf avec les verbes commettre et perpétrer suivis du substantif attentat : commettre un attentat contre qqn.
